Sharing and viewing photos
Teachers share photos of each child from the app, and families see them in their child's gallery as soon as they are posted.
Who posts and who sees
- Teachers post photos from the Hi Kiddo app, for the children of their own classrooms. Each photo belongs to one child.
- Parents see the photos of their own children that are marked Visible to parents. Family members invited with Limited access see them too (see Using the app as a parent).
- Teachers see every photo of their children, including those hidden from parents.
Photos added to a child's activities or daily report also appear in that child's gallery.
How to share a photo (teachers)
- On Home, tap Share Photos. The Gallery opens on one child.
- To choose another child, tap the child's name at the top and pick one in Select Child.
- Tap the camera button at the bottom of the screen.
- Tap Tap to select a photo, then Take Photo or Choose from Gallery.
- Add a Caption (optional) if you like.
- Leave Visible to parents on for the family to see it, or turn it off to keep the photo for the team.
- Tap Upload. You see "Photo uploaded successfully!".
The quick way, from a child's page
Open a child from the Log or Classes tab and tap Photo. Choose Take Photo or Choose from Gallery. The photo is added for that child straight away and is visible to the family ("Photo added for Emma").
What families are told
When a photo is shared with parents, they get a notification such as "New photos of Emma". Tapping it opens their Gallery. The photos also show up on their Home screen, in the day's timeline.
How to look at photos (parents)
- Open the Gallery tab. It shows your child's photos, newest first, grouped by date.
- If you have more than one child, tap the child's name at the top to switch.
- Use the chips at the top, starting with All, to show one category of photos.
- Tap a photo to see it full screen. Swipe left or right to move between photos; the counter at the top shows where you are, for example "3 of 12". The caption appears at the bottom.
- Tap the save button at the top to keep a copy. You see "Saved to your photos" once it is on your phone.
Videos open in the same viewer: tap Play to start them.
Good to know
- On a phone the tabs at the bottom show as icons; press and hold one to see its name.
- Parents can't post photos; only the team can.
- Photos also appear in the child's daily report, under Photos and videos (see Daily reports).
Troubleshooting
- "No photos yet": nothing has been shared for this child yet, or the photos were kept for the team only.
- "Gallery will appear once children are added.": your account isn't linked to a child yet. Ask your center.
- "Upload failed": check your connection and try again. Photos can be up to 10 MB.
- "Couldn't save. Please try again.": allow Hi Kiddo to access your photos in your phone's settings, then try again.
- "This photo couldn't be loaded.": check your internet connection and open the photo again.
