Hi Kiddo

Sharing your child with family

Let another parent, a grandparent or a nanny follow your children in the Hi Kiddo app, with full or limited access.

Who can invite

Family sharing is in the Hi Kiddo app, under Profile, then Family. Only parents can use it.

  • A parent with full access to a child can invite people to follow that child.
  • Someone with limited access can't invite anyone. The Invite someone button doesn't appear for them.

The Family screen lists the people who already follow your children: their name, who they are (Parent, Grandparent, Nanny or Other), the children they follow, and a Limited access badge when their access is limited.

What each access level allows

Full access Limited access
The day, daily reports, photos, messages Yes Yes
Calendar and documents Yes Yes
Invoices Yes No
Invoice emails from the center Yes No
Inviting other family members Yes No

With Limited access, Invoices & Payments stays empty.

How to invite someone

  1. In the app, go to Profile and tap Family.
  2. Tap Invite someone.
  3. Choose Mrs or Mr, then fill in First name, Last name and Email.
  4. Under Who is it?, choose Parent, Grandparent, Nanny or Other.
  5. Under Access, choose Full access or Limited access.
  6. If you have more than one child, tick the children under For which children? You can only share children you have full access to.
  7. Tap Send the invitation.

If something is missing, the app asks you to fill in the name, a valid email and at least one child.

Accepting the invitation

The person you invite receives an email from Hi Kiddo:

  • If they are new to Hi Kiddo, the email is called "Invitation to follow Emma on Hi Kiddo". It contains their email address, a password and links to download the app. They sign in with these details and can then change the password in the app.
  • If they already have a parent account at the same center, for example a parent of another child, the email says you added them. They sign in with their usual account and find the new child there.

With limited access, the email also says what they can and can't see. There is nothing else to accept: once they sign in, they see the children you shared. See Using the app as a parent for everything they can do in the app.

How to remove someone

  1. In Profile, tap Family.
  2. Tap the remove icon next to the person.
  3. Confirm with Remove.

They no longer see your children in the app. If they only followed your children through your invitations, their account is also switched off and they are signed out.

You can only remove people you invited yourself. A parent the center added, or someone another parent invited, has no remove icon.

For directors

People invited by a family appear on the child's page on the Hi Kiddo website, under Parents / Guardians, with their relationship and a Limited access badge when it applies. To stop someone following a child, click Unlink next to their name and confirm. See Children and Parents.

Troubleshooting

  • "This email is already used by another account.": the address belongs to a staff member or to someone at another center. Use a different email address.
  • "This person already follows these children.": they already see the children you picked.
  • "That's your own address.": enter the other person's email, not yours.
  • There is no Invite someone button: you have limited access. Ask the parent who invited you, or the center.
  • The invited person didn't get the email: ask them to look in their spam folder, and check with them that you typed their address correctly.

Your nursery deserves better than a WhatsApp group.
