Taking attendance
Check children in and out for the day, see who is here at a glance, and look back at past days.
Where to find it
In the left menu, click Attendance. Directors find it under Daily care; teachers and parents find it under Day to day.
What you see depends on your role:
- Directors see every active child in the center.
- Teachers see only the children in their own classrooms.
- Parents see only their own children, and can look but not change anything.
Reading the page
The page opens on today. At the top you see the date and a Today badge.
Under the date you have the day controls:
- The arrows on either side of the date go to the Previous day and the Next day.
- Click the date itself to pick any day from the calendar.
- When you are not on today, a Today button brings you back.
Directors and teachers also get a classroom list. Choose a classroom to see only its children, or All Classrooms to see everyone. The page updates as soon as you pick.
Below the controls, a row of counters doubles as quick filters. Click one to show only those children:
- All: everyone on the list.
- In now: children who are checked in and not yet gone home.
- Not arrived: no attendance recorded yet.
- Checked out: children who have gone home.
- Absent: children marked absent or excused.
Use the Search by name... box on the right to find a child quickly.
Each child's row shows their classroom, the arrival and departure times (for example "In 08:15 · Out 16:30") and a status badge: Not arrived, Checked in, Late, Checked out, Absent or Excused. Click a child's name to open their profile.
How to check a child in
- Make sure you are on today's date.
- Find the child (use the counters or the search box if the list is long).
- Click Check In on the child's row.
The arrival time is recorded as the current time, together with your name. The page reloads and keeps your place in the list, so you can check in several children in a row.
How to check a child out
- On today's date, find a child who is checked in.
- Click Check Out.
The departure time is recorded as the current time. The row then shows Complete.
Good to know
- Check In and Check Out are only offered for today. On any other day the page is read-only, and a note reminds you that check-in and check-out are recorded with the current time.
- A child who was marked absent or excused earlier in the day still shows a Check In button. Checking them in sets them as present.
- Once a child is checked out, the web page has no button to undo it.
- Teachers can only check in children who belong to one of their classrooms.
- Check-ins made on this web page do not send a notification to parents. Arrival and departure notifications are sent when staff use the teacher app. See Mobile app for teachers.
- Parents see their own children's status for each day, with the arrival and departure times, but no buttons.
- Platform administrators also get an All Centers list to choose a center.
Exporting the day
Directors and teachers can download the day's attendance with the Export button at the top right of the page. Choose CSV for a spreadsheet or PDF for a printable page. The export uses the date and classroom (and, for platform administrators, the center) you have selected. See Exports for details.
Troubleshooting
- I don't see the Check In buttons. You are probably looking at another day. Click Today. Parents never see these buttons.
- A child is missing from the list. Only active children appear. Teachers only see children in their classrooms; ask your director to check the child's classroom in Children or your classroom assignment in Classrooms.
- The counters don't match what I expect. Check that the classroom list is set to All Classrooms and the search box is empty.
